Dr. Michael Campos

Problems with anxiety and depression are common and impact individuals in complex ways. Anxiety may lead to avoiding things that one might otherwise like to do or doing those things with a great deal of discomfort. Depression can make the world seem unmanageable, cruel, and lacking in compassion while at the same time making one feel bad about oneself. Sometimes short-term relief can involve alcohol use, drug use, or gambling; however, the cycle of short-term relief and compounding long-term consequences makes this type of coping problematic. If you are looking for help to deal with anxiety, depression, and/or addiction problems there are alternatives to old ways of coping.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy, based in the here-and-now with a focus on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behavior, has been shown to be effective for problems with anxiety, depression, and addictions.

If you would like help in making changes that may reduce your anxiety or depression and stop short-term coping strategies like substance use or gambling, contact Dr. Campos.
